4 sessions | $425 | materials included
This course uses urushi, the natural tree lacquer used in the traditional process, rather than the modern substitutes found in most introductory classes.
Over four sessions you will repair one piece from start to finish and learn the reasoning behind each stage:
1. Introduction and mugi urushi (joining the fragments)
2. Sabi urushi (filling and shaping the seams)
3. Naka nuri as coating
4. E-urushi and gold application
The aim is to give you a working understanding of the traditional process. The steps are simplified for a four session format, so this is about learning the method rather than producing a flawless repair.
*Urushi can cause an allergic skin reaction. A signed waiver is required before the first session.
